Mexico beach wedding. Destination weddings.

March 20, 2022

There are so many beautiful locations for a destination wedding in Mexico. No matter what destination you choose in Mexico, you are bound to have warm sunny, warm weather in the 70s-90s. You will also have white sand beaches and beautiful blue water for the backdrop of a beach wedding. A Mexico destination wedding can accommodate any taste: rustic, bohemian, traditional, or modern. A ceremony on the beach, in a ballroom, or in a resort chapel? Cocktail hour outside on the beach? Beach or ballroom reception and dancing? The possibilities are endless.

Wedding Destinations

Our top recommended cities for a beach wedding are Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta, Ixtapa, Cancún, Riviera Maya, and Acapulco. We travel to all of these locations! Our professional services will give you memories to last a lifetime.

What is the cost of having a destination wedding in Mexico?

All couples are able to find a resort in their budget that will allow them to have the beach wedding of their dreams. Couples love having destination weddings in Mexico because they find that it is significantly more affordable than hosting a wedding in the US or Canada.

Prices in all locations vary due to the number of guests. In general, weddings in Cabo San Lucas tend to be the most expensive. Los Cabos has become an incredibly popular destination among celebrities and social media influencers, and it is seen as being one of the most luxurious vacation destinations in the world.

Weddings in Puerto Vallarta, Cancun, and Riviera Maya average around $10,000 USD. Sanchez Photographers would rank these locations as midtier when it comes to price.

Weddings in Ixtapa and Acapulco can potentially cost under $5,000 USD. Therefore, Sanchez Photographers recommends these two locations for the most budget-friendly events.

How to get to your wedding destination?

Mexican destination wedding resorts are easily accessible. There are multiple flights, including nonstop flights, daily from the US, Europe and Canada to each of these locations. In order to find the best flight options for you, you can set up trackers on Google Flights and Hopper to help you monitor price and determine when it will be the best time for you to go. Upon arrival in Mexico, you can take a taxi to your destination. You may also wish to book private transport in advance, especially if multiple people are arriving at the same time.

Los Cabos

If your wedding is going to be in Los Cabos, you will fly into Los Cabos International Airport. The airport is 30-40 minutes away from any resort that you choose in San Jose de Los Cabos or Cabo San Lucas.

Puerto Vallarta & Ixtapa

Destination wedding resorts in Puerto Vallarta and Ixtapa are in a fairly close distance to the airports. To get to Puerto Vallarta, you will fly into Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport. If you are going to Ixtapa, you will fly into Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo International Airport. You and your guests should be able to get to your Puerto Vallarta wedding resort within 20 minutes.

Riviera Maya & Cancun

Cancun International Airport is your go-to for Cancun and Riviera Maya destination weddings. Weddings in Cancun are much closer to the airport than weddings in Riviera Maya. Many Cancun wedding resorts are in the “Hotel Zone”, and it is about a 20-30 minute drive from the Cancun airport. Weddings resorts in Riviera Maya tend to be much farther. It could take you 45 minutes to 1.5 hours to get to your resort from the Cancun airport. It all depends upon where your resort is. If you are going to Riviera Maya, you should consider booking private transportation ahead of time so you are able to be in a larger, more comfortable vehicle.

Acapulco

Acapulco International Airport is only 5-10 minutes away from many of the Acapulco wedding resorts. If you are looking for a location that is extremely close to the airport, Acapulco may be an appealing destination for you and your partner.
